We invite you to support the 2nd Annual The Durango Voice A Fundraiser for Manna
Last year’s event was a great success made possible by the generous donations of our sponsors and the exceptional efforts of our volunteers and contestants. The 2nd annual Durango Voices is our local production similar to the immensely popular TV show – The Voice. Talented singers will perform before two live audiences at the Henry Strater Theatre. On February 25, 2017, the selected singers will perform at the Strater Theatre for the blind auditions. Twelve finalists will be chosen to be coached by professional voice coaches for one month. The finalists will compete again at the Strater on Saturday April 1st. A large portion of the proceeds from The Durango Voices event are used to support the efforts and mission of Manna Soup Kitchen.
The mission of Manna Soup Kitchen is to provide nourishing meals and supportive services in an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for those in need. Manna serves over 65,000 meals per year including breakfast, a hot lunch, and hot and cold to-go dinners. With its mission of feeding the hungry still the top priority, Manna has expanded its services to the homeless and less fortunate in our community. Supportive services include hair cut vouchers, clothing vouchers, food bank referrals, tooth extractions, prescriptions of non-narcotics, gas vouchers, grocery cards, and eye glasses to those in need who do a small chore to help maintain Manna. Manna provides backpacks full of seven meals for the weekends to school aged children who are on the free and reduced lunch program…to name just a few of the services provided in our community!
