MANNA SOUP KITCHEN (NOW CALLED MANNA) PRESENTS THE 2ND ANNUAL DURANGO VOICE FUNDRAISER AT THE STRATER THEATRE, FEBRUARY 25, 2017.
Durango, CO – Manna Soup Kitchen (Manna) presents the 2nd Annual Durango Voice fundraiser – similar to the popular TV show The Voice – on Saturday, February 25, 2017. The event takes place at The Strater Theatre. Doors 6:30, show starts at 7:00.
Pre-professional singers have sent in their audition song to see if they can make it to the live event. On Feb. 25th, the selected contestants will perform before a live audience at the Strater Theatre for the blind auditions. Twelve finalists will be chosen by the judges and will receive professional voice coaching to ready them for the finals. The finalists will compete again at the Strater on Saturday, April 1st, three winners will be selected from twelve contestants. They will receive gift certificates and prizes in addition to singing engagements around town.

Manna does more than just feed the hungry in our community. They provide job training and help people become more self-sufficient. Manna serves over 65,000 meals per year. Supportive services include hair cut & clothing vouchers, food bank referrals, tooth extractions, prescriptions of non-narcotics, gas vouchers, grocery cards, and eye glasses to those in need. Manna provides backpacks full of seven meals for the weekends to school aged children who are on the free and reduced lunch program. Manna has a beautiful garden which produced over 1000 pounds of produce for the kitchen. The garden does not only provide produce for the kitchen but also give produce to those in need at the Manna Market. They also have a Culinary Arts Program which offers job training opportunities to those desiring to better their situations.
